In our state-of-the-art surgical suite, patient safety is our number one priority!

Our philosophy is simple: Your pet receives the same love and attention that we give to our own pets in all aspects of their care, including anesthesia and surgery. We know how we want our pets to be treated, so we don’t ask that you accept anything less when it comes to their care and well-being. We understand that surgery day can be stressful for our patients, but also for you! We make every effort to set expectations for the day and keep you informed of any updates to the plan for your pet. When your pet is awake and recovering from their procedure, we will call you and set up a time for them to go home. For your peace of mind, we welcome calls from you to check in on your pet throughout the day.

What your pet’s day will look like:

• A physical exam will be performed on your pet to ensure that there have been no changes in their health that might affect our plan for the day.
• Pre-anesthetic blood work is encouraged to be done beforehand, but we have the capability to run a panel in-house for immediate results. If any abnormalities are noted, the doctor will contact you to discuss any needed changes to your pet’s treatment plan.
• One of our Registered Veterinary Technician and your pet’s doctor will develop an individualized anesthetic plan based on the unique needs of your pet. We consider variables such as age, species, breed, overall health status and the type of surgery being performed.
• Prior to the procedure, your pet will receive a premedication to relax them, allowing us to place an intravenous (IV) catheter and ease any associated discomfort. This step minimizes stress, pain and the amount of gas anesthesia needed during their procedure, which is key to patient safety.
• Once the anesthesia has been safely induced, your pet will be intubated in order to support their airway and deliver gas anesthesia.
• Each patient has their own dedicated team of three: Veterinarian, Registered Veterinary Technician and a Technician Assistant. One of our highly skilled RVTs is by your pet’s side for the whole procedure, monitoring heart rate, breathing, temperature, blood pressure, ECG, oxygen circulations and depth of anesthesia.
• Following surgery, all pets are monitored closely to ensure their recovery is as smooth and safe as possible. Your pet should be able to go home later that day with any needed post-operative pain medication to control inflammation and ease any discomfort.
• When you come to take your pet home, one of their designated team members will go through all of our post-operative guidelines and answer any questions you may have about your pet’s procedure or at home care.
